The following are the guidelines for Court Ordered or Lawyer Recommended Community Service volunteers:

Volunteers are expected to exhibit behavior that reflects positively on our organization.

All volunteers work at staff's discretion and will perform tasks as needed.

All scheduled shifts must be attended and on time to receive full credit.

Once shifts have been signed up for, if you need to reschedule, do so by emailing Volunteer@unionshelter.org prior to your scheduled shift start time. Cancellations after scheduled shift start time will be counted as a missed shift.

No more than one tardy (15 minutes or more after your scheduled shift start time), last minute cancellation, or missed shift will be permitted, at staff's discretion.

Cell phones must remain in either a locker or in the volunteer's car for the entirety of shift.

If a letter confirming the community service hours is needed and is not communicated at orientation, you can request by email. It must be at least 3 business days prior to the due date at volunteer@unionshelter.org. Please note: business days are Monday-Friday, and do not include weekends or holidays. Last minute requests and drop ins are not able to be accommodated.

Please exercise safe boundaries between yourself and clients.

*IF THESE GUIDELINES ARE NOT FOLLOWED, ALL FURTHER HOURS MAY BE CANCELLED AND THE VOLUNTEER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO COMPLETE THEIR HOURS AT THE COMMUNITY SHELTER.

Once the required hours are completed, you are welcome to attend a volunteer orientation and continue volunteering with us!
